Crispy Sweet Potato Fries with Spicy Dip

Sweet potato fries are a crowd favourite, and for good reason: they’re crispy, flavourful, and a healthier alternative to traditional fries. Pair them with a spicy chili lime dip, and you’ve got a side dish that’s not only delicious but also packed with bold flavours. They’re a great snack if you’re hosting friends, looking for a quick family treat, or having some solo snacking.

Ingredients:

For the Sweet Potato Fries:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Spicy Chili Lime Dip:

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (or your favourite hot sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Pinch of salt

Method:

For the Sweet Potato Fries:

  1. Set your oven to 220°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the sweet potatoes (optional) and cut them into evenly sized wedges or fries.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the sweet potatoes with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper until well coated.
  4. Spread the fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure they are not overlapping for even crispiness.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden and crispy.

For the Spicy Chili Lime Dip:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, sriracha, lime zest, lime juice, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  2. Adjust the spice level to your liking by adding more or less sriracha.
  3. Serve the warm, crispy sweet potato fries with the spicy chili lime dip on the side.
